Mr. Miller’s broad experiences position clients interested in Arkansas governmental affairs, executive decision-making, strategic development and execution of strategic solutions to achieve their goals. As his admirable record demonstrates, James has an innate ability to cross political borders, cut red tape and get to the core of underlying obstacles on behalf of businesses, non-profits and political campaigns.

James has proven skills working with industry leaders and governmental officials to effect positive change in Arkansas. Mr. Miller has always worked closely and effectively with the state’s legislative leaders on both sides of the aisle as well as with the executive branch.

James was an organizational force instrumental in Governor Beebe’s successful gubernatorial campaigns. After serving as 4th congressional District Coordinator in 2006, James helped manage the gubernatorial campaign in 2010.

During his tenure with the Office of the Arkansas Secretary of State, Mr. Miller worked as Special Projects Coordinator for Legislative Affairs, interacting with state legislators and county officials across the state on new developments. James also served as Assistant Treasurer for Arkansas State Treasurer, Jimmie Lou Fisher, and for her successor Treasurer Gus Wingfield.

Since opening James Miller & Associates in 2015, James has worked closely with the Arkansas Railroad Association, the Association of Dental Support Organizations, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and other public and private sector organizations and institutes needing experienced governmental affairs assistance and guidance. Mr. Miller is currently accepting new clients.

Political Career

Arkansas Senate President Pro Tempore Jonathan Dismang

Before founding the public affairs firm of James Miller Associates in 2015, James served as Chief of Staff for Arkansas Senate President Pro Tempore Jonathan Dismang. In this capacity, James worked closely with state legislators and business leaders and advised the Senate Pro Temp on legislation, all initiatives before legislative committees and state agency actions along with local and state governmental affairs.

James also served with distinction on the staff of Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe and was the governor’s lead liaison with agencies responsible for Banking, Insurance, Labor and Workers’ Compensation. In these areas, Mr. Miller’s proactive engagement helped Governor Beebe formulate the state’s legislative agenda. While serving as Chief Legislative Officer, James advised the Governor on all legislative matters.
